Teens from out of the area were arrested for suspicion of robbing a Bluebird Park visitor Sunday, Sept. 27, about 8:13 a.m., according to police.
Police spotted and stopped a car outbound on Laguna Canyon Road that matched the description of the fleeing thieves. The victim said four men pushed her and grabbed a wallet from her hand containing $200 in cash and fled in a car with paper plates, Sgt. Tim Kleiser said.
Most of the money was retrieved from the car and the wallet was found at the park, he said.
Four juveniles were charged with robbery; three were taken to juvenile hall and others were released to parents, Kleiser said.
One of the parents summoned to retrieve her 17-year-old son had yet to exit the city limits before seeking help from police about 3 p.m. While driving, the mother and son argued and the son bashed his mother on the head several times, Kleiser said. She stopped the car and police arrested the boy for battery; this time he was taken to juvenile hall, Kleiser said.
On her own, the mother went to the hospital and was diagnosed with a slight concussion, Kleiser said.
Arrest Made in Sex Assault on Jogger
Law enforcement officials are seeking the public’s help in identifying other potential victims of a man who used an imitation firearm in a sexual assault on a jogger in a nearby park last week.
Sean Luke Salaber, 22, of Riverside, allegedly tackled a 23-year-old jogger from behind on a trail near Aliso and Wood Canyons Regional Park in Laguna Niguel and held a phony gun to her head while groping her as he attempted to drag her off the trail, sheriff’s deputies said.
The victim screamed and nearby bystanders scared off the attacker and contacted sheriff’s deputies. Salabar was arrested in a nearby neighborhood and charged with attempted kidnapping, sexual assault and brandishing a fake firearm, sheriff’s deputies said. His arraignment was set for Monday, Sept. 28.
