Woman Airlifted from Crescent Bay Rocks

Lifeguards, police and fire personnel were dispatched to Crescent Bay on Tuesday, Sept. 24, at 2:36 p.m. in response to a report of a possibly unconscious woman. Laguna Beach Marine Safety Capt. Kai Bondsaid the woman was located on the rocks north of Crescent Bay, near Whiskey Cove.

Once on scene, Bond said first responders provided basic life support to the unconscious woman before paramedics arrived and provided advanced life support. Bond said due to the precarious area the woman was in, a helicopter rescue with hoist was required, which was provided by the Orange County Fire Authority’s Helicoper 1.

The woman was taken to Mission Hospital – Mission Viejo. Her condition was not available as of press time.

LBPD to Host Road Safety Expo

The Laguna Beach Police Department will host a Road Safety Expo on Sunday, Oct. 13, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Top of the World Elementary School, 21601 Treetop Lane, Laguna Beach.

The expo will feature performances by Robert Castillo’s BMX Freestyle Team at 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., and the Laguna Beach Fire Department will demo a vehicle extrication at noon and 1 p.m. A Skatedogs mobile skatepark clinic will be available, offering quarter pipes, rails, boxes and launch ramps.

Ruby’s Food Truck and Kona Ice will also be present at the event. The expo includes an array of other vendors related to vehicle safety, as well as plenty of kids’ activities. Raffle prizes include an autographed Tony Hawk skateboard, a gift basket, and three new bicycles.

 

Sunday, Sept. 29

Occupied vehicle. 3:05 a.m. 200 block of Ocean Avenue. A 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of DUI and held for $2,500 bail.

Saturday, Sept. 28

Traffic collision. 8:06 a.m. 300 block of Aster Street. Following a traffic collision, a 54-year-old man was arrested for an outstanding warrant and faced additional charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail was set at $500.

Warrant arrest. 4:11 p.m. 500 block of Forest Avenue. A 62-year-old man was arrested for an outstanding warrant for embezzlement and held for $31,200 bail.

Traffic stop. 8:43 p.m. 20600 block of Laguna Canyon Road. A 22-year-old driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI and held for $10,000 bail due to one prior offense.

Traffic stop. 10:10 p.m. 2500 block of Laguna Canyon Road. A 61-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of DUI and held for $2,500 bail.

Petty theft. 8:28 a.m. 800 block of Glenneyre Street. A 62-year-old homeless man was arrested for resisting arrest ($500 bail) and violating post release community supervision (no bail). The man reportedly took sandwiches and soda from a store without paying and then kept walking away from police as they pursued him.

Traffic stop. 3:51 p.m. 1500 block of N. Coast Highway. A 21-year-old woman was arrested for assault and battery and resisting arrest and held for $500 bail.

Drunk driving. 5:52 p.m. S. Coast Highway and Legion Street. A 49-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of DUI and driving with a BAC of .08 or higher and held for $2,500 bail. The driver was allegedly straddling lanes, honking her horn at random, nearly hit a parked car and made an illegal u-turn.

Traffic collision. 6:20 p.m. Phillips Street and Laguna Canyon Road. An elderly man was reportedly hit by a truck.

Drunk Driving. 11:38 p.m. 500 block of S. Coast Highway. A 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of DUI and held for $2,500 bail. The man reportedly got into a traffic collision at Legion Street that caused him to drive into a building. There were no injuries reported.

Friday, Oct. 4

Traffic stop. 1:13 p.m. Victory Walk and Woodland Drive. A 25-year-old man was arrested for an outstanding warrant for cultivation of peyote and possession of methamphetamine, and an additional warrant out of Riverside County for misdemeanor corporal injury to spouse ($5,000 bail). The man was also charged with theft ($500 bail), conspiracy ($500 bail), and petty theft ($500 bail). A second 18-year-old male was arrested for theft ($500 bail), being a minor in possession ($500 bail) and petty theft ($500 bail).

Petty theft. 2:11 p.m. 600 block of North Coast Highway. A 38-year-old man was arrested for shoplifting and held for $500 bail after reportedly taking four bottles of vodka, a six-pack of beer and a cooked chicken from Pavilions.

Traffic stop. 6:38 p.m. 400 block of Broadway Street. A 39-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of DUI and driving with a BAC of .08 or higher and held for $10,000 bail.

Drunk driving. 8:58 p.m. 30800 block of Coast Highway. A 40-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of DUI ($10,000 bail) and misdemeanor hit and run ($500 bail).

Stranded motorist. 11:44 p.m. Oak Street and South Coast Highway. A 20-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of DUI and driving with a BAC of .08 or higher and held for $2,500 bail.

Drunk driving. 1:01 a.m. 2200 block of Laguna Canyon Road. A 28-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of DUI and held for $2,500 bail. The man was reportedly seen swerving in between lanes and almost hitting other vehicles.

Traffic stop. 1:21 a.m. Canyon Acres Drive and Laguna Canyon Road. A 43-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of DUI and driving with a BAC of .08 or higher and held for $2,500 bail.

Traffic stop. 2:34 a.m. 20900 block of Laguna Canyon Road. A 34-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of DUI and driving with a BAC of .08 or higher and held for $10,000 bail.

Saturday, Oct. 26

Found property. 7:37 a.m. 800 block of Park Avenue. A loaded needle was found in front of the location.

Drunk Driving. 3:13 p.m. Wesley Drive and Coast Highway. Jesse James Matheny, 29, was arrested on suspicion of DUI and driving under the influence of drugs and held for $15,000 bail due to two prior offenses. Matheny was reportedly seen driving with hazards on and moving through all lanes of traffic, swerving into the median, and almost colliding twice with vehicles.

Friday, Oct. 25

Foot patrol. 8:51 a.m. 300 block of Broadway Street. A 40-year-old man was arrested for resisting an executive officer and held for $25,000 bail.

Public intoxication. 7:52 p.m. 1500 block of Glenneyre Street. A 21-year-old woman was arrested for trespassing and held for $500 bail. The woman was allegedly at a sober living home but was not allowed to be there because she was intoxicated.

LBPD Awarded Traffic Education, Enforcement Grant

Laguna Beach Police Department received a $104,975 grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) for a year-long enforcement and education program. The money will fund various activities intended to reduce deaths and injuries on California roads.

The grant-related activities are for the 2020 federal fiscal year, which runs from Oct. 1, 2019 to Sept. 30, 2020.

The funding from the OTS will be used for numerous programs, including:

  • DUI/driver’s license checkpoints
  • Patrols specifically looking for suspected alcohol and/or drug-impaired drivers
  • Patrols targeting violations of California’s hands-free cell phone law
  • Patrols targeting the primary causes of crashes
  • Patrols specifically looking for seat belt and child safety seat violations
  • Creating “Hot Sheets” identifying repeat DUI offenders
  • Officer training to identify suspected impaired drivers and conduct sobriety tests

 

 

Saturday, Nov. 2

Traffic stop. 12:53 a.m. El Toro Road and Laguna Canyon Road. A 37-year-old Aliso Viejo man was arrested on suspicion of DUI and held for $2,500 bail.

Drunk driving. 1:46 a.m. Cleo Street and South Coast Highway. A 23-year-old San Clemente woman was arrested on suspicion of DUI and driving with a BAC of .08 or higher and held for $2,500 bail after reportedly rear-ending another driver. Prior to the arrest, police and fire personnel responded to a report of an injury traffic collision. Emergency personnel arrived and found that a Nissan Sentra had slowed to turn right into the Pacific Edge Hotel parking lot when it was rear-ended by a Jeep Cherokee, driven by the San Clemente woman. The impact caused the Nissan to strike a light pole and two parked cars. The driver of the Nissan and the driver of the Jeep were examined by medics and found to be uninjured. Northbound and southbound traffic was diverted to side streets for 45 minutes.

Trespassing. 2:20 p.m. 300 block of 3rd Street. A 48-year-old man was reportedly sleeping under the stairwell of a parking structure. He was arrested on suspicion of trespassing and held for $10,000 bail.

 

Friday, Nov. 1

Burglary. 4 p.m. 300 block of Loma Terrace. A resident reported a burglary from over the weekend—their garage was possibly left unlocked and items were taken, including five iPhones, three MacBooks, and two iPads. Total loss was more than $13,000.

Drunk driving. 6:44 p.m. Anita Street and Glenneyre Street. A 44-year-old Laguna Beach man was arrested on suspicion of DUI and held for $2,500 bail. The man reportedly hit another vehicle.

Traffic stop. 11:08 p.m. Phillips Street and Laguna Canyon Road. A 30-year-old Los Angeles man was arrested on suspicion of DUI and driving with a BAC of .08 or higher and held for $2,500 bail.

Traffic stop. 11:56 p.m. 300 block of Ocean Avenue. A Santa Ana man was arrested during a traffic stop for possession of meth for sale ($25,000 bail), illegal possession of prescription medication ($500 bail), and possession of drug paraphernalia ($500 bail).

Traffic stop. 1:53 a.m. 20600 block of Laguna Canyon Road. A 25-year-old Aliso Viejo woman was arrested on suspicion of DUI and driving with a BAC of .08 or higher and held for $2,500 bail.

Traffic stop. 2:46 a.m. 500 block of Forest Avenue. A 25-year-old Santa Ana woman was arrested on suspicion of DUI and driving with a BAC of .08 or higher and held for $2,500 bail. The woman faces an additional charge of possession of a controlled substance ($500 bail).

Drunk driving. 10:21 p.m. Cleo Street and S. Coast Highway. Daniel Osorio, 36, of San Juan Capistrano, was arrested on suspicion of DUI causing bodily injury and held for $100,000 bail, with one prior offense. Prior to the arrest, officers responded to a report of a vehicle versus pedestrian collision and found a female pedestrian who had suffered a leg injury sitting on the sidewalk.

 

Friday, Nov. 22

Public intoxication. 7:31 a.m. 300 block of Cliff Drive. A homeless woman was arrested for public intoxication ($500 bail) after being seen with a group of other intoxicated people near Jasmine at the picnic benches. The woman spit on officers and kicked the jailer and faces an additional charge of battery on a peace officer ($500 bail).

Friday, Nov. 29

Traffic collision. 9:52 a.m. Emerald Bay and North Coast Highway. Police reported that a female pedestrian was standing on the southeast corner of Third Street before running from the east sidewalk to the west sidewalk within the marked crosswalk. As she was about half way through the marked crosswalk, a white Toyota Corolla collided with her. The woman’s head and elbow hit the windshield and her back landed on the hood. The Toyota continued forward for approximately 10 feet before the woman was thrown off the vehicle and onto the street. The driver of the Toyota exited the vehicle to render aid. The pedestrian was treated by Laguna Beach Fire and declined being transported to the hospital for further evaluation. She sustained a laceration on her back and visible scratches on her right elbow. The driver and pedestrian were both from Aliso Viejo.

Robbery. 11:32 a.m. 300 block of Mermaid Street. A woman reported that her iPhone was stolen after she was assaulted and robbed two nights prior. She told police that she was knocked out—struck with a fist—and was unable to move after the assault. A friend of the woman called her to wish her a happy Thanksgiving, and a male transient reportedly answered the phone.

Citizen contact. 8:05 p.m. 500 block of Forest Avenue. A Garden Grove resident was arrested for an outstanding warrant for vandalism with gang enhancements and held for $25,000 bail.

Stranded motorist. 9:57 p.m. Cress Street and South Coast Highway. A 62-year-old Fountain Valley resident was arrested on suspicion of DUI and held for $2,500 bail.

 

Friday, Dec. 6

Citizen hail. 2:28 p.m. 200 block of Ocean Avenue. A laptop was reported stolen from the Second Chance thrift shop.

Drunk driving. 3:30 p.m. 21000 block of Laguna Canyon Road. A 35-year-old Orange man was arrested on suspicion of DUI and driving with a BAC of 0.08 or higher and held for $10,000 bail due to a prior DUI offense. The man was arrested after driving a truck into a power pole.

Burglary attempt. 6:07 p.m. 1400 block of Santa Cruz Street. A resident reported that a window near the front door of their home was broken as if someone was trying to break into the residence.

Traffic stop. 8:40 p.m. 200 block of Pearl Street. A 56-year-old Laguna Beach man was arrested on suspicion of DUI and held for $2,500 bail.

.22 Caliber Bullet Found on School Bus

On Tuesday, Dec. 10, Thurston Middle School Principal Jenny Salberg alerted parents that one of the school’s bus drivers found an unspent .22 caliber bullet while cleaning a bus after the morning’s drop off at Thurston. Salberg said the Laguna Beach Police Department was immediately notified, and authorities advised that the “weathered, dirty bullet looked to have been on the bus for some time and appeared to be related to the bullets found on campus in October.” Salberg said the situation is being actively investigated by LBPD.

“I want to assure you that we take every precaution necessary to ensure the safety of our students,” she said. “I would like to thank everyone who has contributed information (See Something, Say Something) to help the LBPD in their investigation. If any additional information becomes available, please do not hesitate to contact me at jsalberg@lbusd.org or our School Resource Officer at cashton@lagunabeachcity.net.”

Salberg said she will provide an update if any new information becomes available in the investigation.

Vehicle stop/follow. 3:25 a.m. 2200 block of Laguna Canyon Road. A 24-year-old Anaheim man was arrested on suspicion of DUI and held for $10,000 bail due to one prior DUI offense.

Traffic stop. 4:46 a.m. Laguna Canyon Road and NB State Highway 73. A 25-year-old Irvine resident was arrested on suspicion of DUI and driving with a BAC of .08 or higher and held for $2,500 bail.

 

Saturday, Dec. 14

Traffic stop. 12:15 a.m. Blue Lagoon and Coast Highway. A 25-year-old Newport Beach woman was arrested on suspicion of DUI and held for $2,500 bail.

Traffic stop. 2:03 a.m. Pacific Coast Highway and El Moro Ridge Road. A 53-year-old Newport Beach woman was arrested on suspicion of DUI and held for $2,500 bail.

Traffic stop. 10:43 p.m. Legion Street and South Coast Highway. Officers made a traffic stop and arrested a 56-year-old Fountain Valley man on three misdemeanor warrants. The man was also found to be in the presence of a protected person of a restraining order, and a charge of violating a restraining order was added.

Traffic stop. 11:44 p.m. Aster Street and N. Coast Highway. A 28-year-old Santa Ana man was arrested on suspicion of DUI and held for $2,500 bail.

 

Friday, Dec. 13

Traffic collision. 2:50 p.m. 600 block of Park Avenue. A driver pulled into the parking lot at Manzanita and Park Avenue, adjacent to the community pool. The driver failed to stop and ran directly into the gas line feeding into the building. Traffic was briefly closed on Park Avenue until LBFD responded and shut off the gas line. The single occupant driver, a man from Tarzana, was transported to Mission Hospital Laguna Beach for minor injuries.

Traffic stop. 11:06 p.m. Mountain Road and Gaviota Drive. A 55-year-old Aliso Viejo man was arrested on suspicion of DUI and held for $10,000 bail due to one prior DUI offense.

Traffic stop. 11:17 p.m. 2200 block of Laguna Canyon Road. A 40-year-old Corona man was arrested on suspicion of DUI and driving with a BAC of .08 or higher and held for $2,500 bail.

Police Respond to Catalina Car Burglaries

From Dec. 15 through Dec. 20, Laguna Beach Police officers responded to several reports of theft from vehicles, along with a stolen vehicle report. Authorities believe that all of the incidents occurred within the blocks of 800-1400 Catalina Street. Three subjects were recently taken into custody in Redondo Beach, and were found to be in possession of stolen items belonging to Laguna Beach residents.

On the morning of Dec. 20, officers walked the neighborhoods and spoke to residents regarding the incidents, reminding them to keep vehicles and personal property locked and secured.

Traffic stop. 2:06 a.m. Forest Avenue and Glenneyre Street. A 53-year-old Rancho Santa Margarita woman was arrested on suspicion of DUI and held for $2,500 bail.

Saturday, Dec. 28

Public intoxication. 12:20 p.m. 100 block of South Coast Highway. A 41-year-old Irvine man was reportedly screaming and yelling” profanities and racial slurs at kids in a park. The man was arrested for public intoxication and held for $500 bail.

Grand theft. 3:33 p.m. 400 block of Cliff Drive. A man reported that his electric bike was taken from his outdoor porch, possibly from behind a locked fence. Loss was approximately $5,700.

Friday, Dec. 27

Grand theft. 9:53 a.m. 800 block of Diamond Street. A woman, who is in the process of selling her home, reported that a ring and a watch were stolen from her residence. She told police it was likely during one of several recent open houses. Approximate loss was $20,000.

Grand theft. 1:46 p.m. 900 block of Park Avenue. A resident reported that an electric bike was taken from their garage, which had been left open. Total loss was $1,550.

Disturbance. 4:59 p.m. 31800 block of Coast Highway. A 33-year-old San Clemente woman was brought to an emergency room for extreme alcohol poisoning, and was later arrested for an outstanding warrant for defrauding an innkeeper.

Drunk driving. 9:39 p.m. 1100 block of La Mirada Street. A 70-year-old Laguna Beach man was arrested on suspicion of DUI ($2,500 bail), driving with a BAC of .08 or higher, and misdemeanor hit and run ($500 bail).

Traffic stop. 10:24 a.m. 600 block of Laguna Canyon Road. A 27-year-old Santa Ana man was arrested for an outstanding warrant for driving without a license and running a stop sign and held for $10,000 bail.

Animal calls. 3:45 p.m. 300 block of Cliff Drive. An 11-year-old boy was bitten by a dog near the whale statue. The dog’s owner reportedly had two small dogs with her that were off-leash and left the scene after the incident occurred.

Defraud inkeeper. 6:05 p.m. 30800 block of Coast Highway. A local establishment reported that a guest left the previous day without paying their $336 bill.

Wednesday, Jan. 1

Defraud inkeeper. 12:49 a.m. 1500 block of South Coast Highway. A 48-year-old Orange woman was arrested on suspicion of defrauding an inkeeper and held for $500 bail. The woman reportedly left a restaurant without paying and refused to stop for security.

Traffic stop. 3:04 a.m. 3rd Avenue and Coast Highway. A 24-year-old Laguna Niguel man was arrested on suspicion of DUI and held for $2,500 bail.

Vehicle burglary. 7:05 p.m. Glenneyre Street and Bluebird Canyon Drive. A white Ford Expedition was reportedly broken into—the right rear passenger window had been smashed. Several computers were taken; the loss was estimated at $4,000.

Traffic stop. 10:24 p.m. 7th Avenue and Coast Highway. A 20-year-old Trabuco Canyon man was arrested on suspicion of DUI and driving under the combined influence of alcohol and drugs and held for $2,500 bail.

 

Friday, Jan. 10

H&S activity. 3:05 p.m. 200 block of Broadway Street. Three people were reportedly seen passing a glass pipe and smoking in the food court area. A 27-year-old woman was arrested for an outstanding harbor court warrant for possession of narcotic paraphernalia and a traffic violation and held for $2,500 bail.

 

Thursday, Jan. 9

Indecent exposure. 7:10 p.m. 1400 block of South Coast Highway. An employee reported to police that a man was sitting on a couch inside of a business and was exposing and touching himself. The man was described as a short, thin 30-year-old male wearing a black baseball cap and a black jacket. The employee told police that she had seen the man at the business before and he did not appear to have any weapons. The man exited the building, walking northbound; police conducted an area check.

Santa Ana Man Arrested for Assault, Wielding Weapon at Sandpiper

 

On Sunday, Jan. 19, around 1:30 a.m., Laguna Beach Police officers responded to The Sandpiper for a subject who brandished a knife and was being held on the ground by bouncers.

Gustavo Orozco, 23, of Santa Ana, was reportedly kicked out of the Sandpiper, and once outside, he allegedly pulled a pocket knife from his shorts and extended the blade. Orozco then began walking toward the bouncers, waving the knife. The bouncers grabbed a nearby stool and used it to push Orozco to the ground, allowing them to get the knife away from him.

LBPD arrived on scene and the detained Orozco. While in a seated position, Orozco appeared to lose consciousness and Laguna Beach Fire was requested. During treatment by LBFD, Orozco became upset and spit twice at an officer and struck his head against a parked vehicle.

Orozco was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon ($25,000 bail), brandishing a weapon ($20,000 bail), and assault. He was transported to Mission Hospital-Laguna Beach via ambulance for a medical clearance prior to booking.

 

Sunday, Jan. 19

Traffic stop. 2:38 a.m. 200 block of Legion Street. A 19-year-old Mission Viejo man was arrested on suspicion of DUI and driving with a BAC of .08 or higher and held for $2,500 bail.

 

Friday, Jan. 17

Trespassing. 8:48 p.m. 300 block of St. Ann’s Drive. It was reported that two people were trespassing and sleeping near the front entrance of St. Ann’s. A 23-year-old woman, with no fixed address, was arrested for an outstanding warrant for being under the influence of a controlled substance and held for $15,000 bail.

Grand theft. 8:59 p.m. 600 block North Coast Highway. Two male subjects reportedly stole cases of liquor from Pavilions.

Traffic stop. 1:33 a.m. 100 block of Laguna Avenue. A 47-year-old Irvine woman was arrested on suspicion of DUI and held for $10,000 bail due to a prior DUI offense.

Occupied vehicle. 2:37 a.m. 200 block of Crescent Bay Drive. A 35-year-old Costa Mesa man was arrested for an outstanding warrant for DUI, felony reckless evading, and false impersonation and held for $20,000 bail.

Saturday, Jan. 25

Traffic stop. 10:40 p.m. Legion Street and Glenneyre Street. A 55-year-old Long Beach man was arrested on suspicion of DUI and held for $2,500 bail.

Wednesday, Jan. 22

Burglary. 9:10 a.m. 900 block of North Coast Highway. The window of a guest’s locked vehicle was broken into and a wallet was taken. Approximate loss was $200.

Fraud report. 2 p.m. 200 block St. Ann’s Drive. It was reported that after responding to an ad on Craigslist for a rental and wiring money, the renter was supposed to pick up the keys, but the subject was a no-show. Approximate loss was $2,000.

Repeat Offender Faces Narcotic Charges

At 10:17 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 30, a Laguna Beach Police officer made a traffic stop at Vista Del Sol and Coast Highway and made contact with the driver, 44-year-old Jonathan Ditmer. Sgt. Jim Cota said the officer conducted a vehicle search, which resulted in the officer finding a large amount of drugs, including marijuana, MDMA, methamphetamine, psilocybin, PCP, edibles, concentrated cannabis, cocaine, and an unknown white powder. Ditmer reportedly had the drugs separated into multiple smaller bags.

Cota said police also found $6,620 in cash, a digital scale, cellphone, and a soda can with a false compartment concealing multiple baggies of drugs inside.

Ditmer was placed in custody for possession for sales of a controlled substance, in addition to several other narcotic charges.

Cota said Ditmer was arrested on Sept. 22, 2019 by LBPD for similar charges.

 

Sunday, Feb. 2

Traffic stop. 12:14 a.m. 2200 block of Laguna Canyon Road. A 39-year-old Aliso Viejo man was arrested on suspicion of DUI and held for $2,500 bail.

Traffic stop. 2:09 a.m. 500 block of South Coast Highway. A 21-year-old San Clemente man was arrested on suspicion of DUI and held for $2,500 bail.

Traffic stop. 2:36 a.m. A 30-year-old Las Vegas man was arrested on suspicion of DUI and held for $2,500 bail.

 

Saturday, Feb. 1

Disturbance. 12:49 a.m. Laguna Avenue and South Coast Highway. A 38-year-old man from Seattle,Washington was arrested on suspicion of DUI ($2,500 bail) and resisting arrest ($500 bail).

Saturday, Feb. 8

Traffic collision. 1:11 p.m. 20300 block of Laguna Canyon Road. Officers responded to a report of a motorcycle versus auto collision at 20327 Laguna Canyon Road. Upon arrival, officers indicated that a female cyclist riding the wrong way on Laguna Canyon Road was struck by a vehicle making a left onto Laguna Canyon Road. The cyclist was transported to Mission Hospital with minor injuries. Sgt. Jim Cota said the report and investigation is still ongoing.

Petty theft. 3:14 p.m. 30800 block of Coast Highway. Four juvenile suspects reportedly ran out of CVS with two packs of White Claw.

Public intoxication. 10:59 p.m. Beach Street and Forest Avenue. A 26-year-old Mission Viejo man was arrested on suspicion of DUI and held for $2,500 bail.

 

Friday, Feb. 7

Drunk driving. 10:05 p.m. 1200 block of Pacific Avenue. An 18-year-old Aliso Viejo man was arrested on suspicion of DUI and held for $2,500 bail. The driver reportedly hit a parked vehicle.

Traffic stop. 11:02 p.m. 600 block of South Coast Highway. A 38-year-old Garden Grove woman was arrested on suspicion of DUI and driving with a BAC of .08 or higher and held for $2,500 bail.

Traffic stop. 11:38 p.m. 2400 block of Laguna Canyon Road. A 32-year-old Trabuco Canyon resident was arrested on suspicion of DUI and held for $2,500 bail.

Physical fight. 3:23 p.m. 100 block of South Coast Hwy. A fight was reported on the south cobblestones. Leigh Alan Perry, 60, of Laguna Beach was arrested for battery and resisting arrest. He was held on a $1,000 bond.

 

Thursday, Feb. 20

Petty theft. 7:52 a.m. 20600 block of Laguna Canyon Road. The victim reported his cash and medication were stolen between 8 p.m. and 7:30 a.m. Estimated loss was worth about $70.

Friday, Feb. 21

DUI. 12:23 a.m. 100 block of Brooks Street. A 29-year-old Laguna Beach man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. He was held on a $2,500 bond.

Saturday, Feb. 22

Trespassing. 7:39 a.m. 600 block of North Coast Hwy. A male transient was screaming and yelling profanities in the produce section of Pavillon’s. Marc Alexander Powell, 54, of Banning was arrested on suspicion of trespassing. He was held on a $500 bond.

Sunday, Feb. 23

DUI. 1:35 a.m. Thalia Street and South Coast Hwy. A 35-year-old Ontario woman was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. He was held on a $2,500 bond.

DUI. 2:16 a.m. Beach Street and Broadway Place. A 25-year-old Anaheim man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. He was held on a $2,500 bond.
