Monday, Oct. 19

Traffic collision. State Hwy 73. 1 p.m. Witnesses say two motorcyclists were taking turns blocking traffic to allow the other to pop wheelies and collided with each other. The two riders, both men in their 20s from Pasadena, fell from their bikes and were transported to the hospital for their injuries, which were not serious.

Tuesday, Oct. 20

Traffic collision. N. Coast Hwy. 1:26 p.m. A motorist that missed his turn and made an illegal U-turn southbound was hit by a northbound motorcyclist, who suffered serious injuries in the collision. No drugs or alcohol are involved.

Traffic stop. Coast Hwy. 3 p.m. Nicholas Marcaccio, 21, of Laguna Beach, was arrested for outstanding warrants.

Fraud. 32200 block of Coast Hwy. 4:39 p.m. A resident reported that someone used his identity to open a credit card account in his name, now delinquent with $15,000 in charges.

Wednesday, Oct. 21

Drug arrest. 300 block of Poplar St. 1:16 a.m. On officer who came across a car idling and a driver passed out behind the wheel arrested Robert Slingsby, 25, of Irvine, for suspicion of drug paraphernalia. While searching the vehicle, the officer allegedly found a syringe.

Auto theft. Laguna Canyon Road. 1:48 p.m. Officers conducted a high-risk vehicle stop on a car identified by cameras as stolen but ultimately released the occupants. Officers determined that the person who sold the car to the driver probably filed a false stolen vehicle report.

Fraud. Alta Vista Way. 2:26 p.m. A resident reported that someone opened credit accounts in her name.

Burglary. 600 block of S. Coast Hwy. 3:40 p.m. A thief entered a gallery and stole $13,000 worth of jewelry. Police had yet to identify the mode of entry.

Traffic stop. 200 block of Laguna Ave. 11:29 p.m. James Allen York, 35, of Sunset Beach, was charged with carrying a loaded semi-automatic handgun and two drug offenses after an officer pulled over the driver for a traffic violation and searched the car. Police turned up a baggie of methamphetamine and a glass pipe. Passenger Steven Brandis Brendera, 33, of Vista was also arrested for an outstanding drug warrant.

Thursday, Oct. 22

Hazardous condition. Kilo and Alta Vista Way. 12:30 p.m. 12 homes were temporarily evacuated due to a gas leak caused by a city contractor working on a retaining wall.

Fraud. Tustin. 5:34 p.m. A Tustin resident reported that someone opened credit cards in his name and made charges in the area, including at a local hotel.

Patrol stop. Broadway. 11:34 p.m. Blake Andrew Julian, 47, of Capo Beach, was arrested for an outstanding warrant when an officer found him passed out at the bus depot.

Friday, Oct. 23

Fraud. Ocean Ave. 3:20 p.m. A woman claimed someone who had stolen her ATM card had taken $800 from her account.

Suspicious activity. Ocean Avenue. 6:07 p.m. David Michael Shipley, 54, of San Clemente, was arrested for suspicion of taking a car illegally and possession of heroin and paraphernalia. He was found asleep in a stolen car.

Drug offense. Park Avenue. 8:38 p.m. Parents of two students who were detained for being under the influence of drugs were contacted by police to retrieve their children.

Saturday, Oct. 24

Traffic stop. Beach and Ocean Streets. 12:12 a.m. A 22-year-old Costa Mesa man was cited for DUI.

Traffic stop. 200 block of Calliope St. 12:50 a.m. Garfield Langmuir Logan, 61, of Laguna Beach, was arrested for suspicion of drunk driving and held for $10,000 bail due to a prior offense.

Drug offense. 500 block of Broadway. 2:26 a.m. Cataldo Salvatore Alessi, 28, of Laguna Beach, was arrested for suspicion of cocaine sales and public intoxication. After seeing him stumble, police contacted him and allegedly found seven baggies weighing 7.5 grams of cocaine in his possession.

Drug offense. Broadway. 2:32 a.m. Christopher Paul Mack, 43, of Laguna Beach, was charged with suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and violating parole.

Fraud. PD. 9:21 a.m. A local man who sold his phone over Ebay returned $495 to the seller when the box arrived empty.

Vandalism. 1400 block of Cerritos Drive. 9:53 a.m. A resident suspects juveniles at odds with his son for $3,500 in damage to a car keyed with expletives.

Assault. 100 block of S. Coast Hwy. 12:29 p.m. Randle Lee Cadzow, 33, San Diego, was cited for possessing a dangerous weapon after he allegedly raised a trash-picking tool against a caretaker, who had asked him to leave.

Petty theft. 31000 block of Coast Hwy. 4 p.m. $200 worth of items left for a charity were stolen overnight.

Traffic stop. S. Coast Hwy. 11:15 p.m. Eric Valentin Zarate, 20, of San Clemente, was charged with auto theft, possession of drug paraphernalia, false impersonation, driving while unlicensed and an outstanding warrant after police stopped a car being driven without lights. The car had been taken 20 minutes earlier in San Clemente. The two other occupants, a 17-year-old San Clemente girl and Alexis Moreno-Aguirre, 21, of Dana Point, were also arrested for suspicion of auto theft.

Sunday, Oct. 25

Traffic stop. 200 block of Brooks Street. 1:31 a.m. A 44-year-old Laguna Beach woman was cited for DUI.

Traffic stop. 500 block of Broadway Street. 2:15 a.m. A 40-year-old Aliso Viejo resident was cited for DUI.

Indecent exposure. Main Beach. 9:54 a.m. James Scott Rudolph, 60, of Laguna Beach was arrested for suspicion of indecent exposure after a citizen allegedly observed him masturbating in a public restroom.
